Have you ever noticed how sometimes the biggest battles aren’t happening around us — they’re happening within us?
I’ve been thinking a lot about how easily we can get trapped by our own thoughts.
How one small assumption, one fear, one “I can’t” can build walls higher than any obstacle in front of us.
We don’t mean to do it.
But before long, those beliefs start to shape how we see ourselves, how we pray, and even what we think God can do through us.
And that’s exactly what this week’s episode of God’s Calling is about — identifying the beliefs that hold us back and learning to replace them with truth.
The Parable That Stopped Me in My Tracks
I share a story in this episode that I haven’t stopped thinking about.
It’s about a man named Nick Sitzman, a railroad worker who accidentally got locked inside a refrigerated boxcar.
Nick believed he was trapped in a freezing death trap.
He panicked.
He etched final words to his family in the wooden floor.
By morning, he was gone.
But here’s the shocking part — the refrigeration unit wasn’t even working.
The car never dropped below 56 degrees.
Nick didn’t die from the cold.
He died from his belief.
I know that’s heavy. But it’s powerful.
Because if we’re honest, many of us are doing the same thing — living inside “mental boxcars” of fear, shame, scarcity, and doubt.
We assume we’re stuck, when in reality, the door’s been unlocked the whole time.
The Battle for Your Belief
Even Jesus faced moments when His mindset was tested.
After His baptism — right after God declared, “This is my Son, whom I love” — the enemy went straight for His identity.
“If you are the Son of God…”
Those words weren’t just temptation. They were provocation.
An invitation to doubt what God had already said.
But Jesus didn’t bite. He didn’t argue or spiral into fear.
He answered every lie with truth.
That’s what I unpack in the episode — how to recognize when your thoughts are rooted in lies, and how to replace them with what God actually said about you.
Maybe It’s Time to Check the Temperature in Your Boxcar
If you’ve been feeling stuck — in your purpose, your faith, or your mindset — maybe it’s not that God hasn’t moved.
Maybe you’ve just been believing something that isn’t true.
It’s time to test those thoughts.
To ask, “Is this from fear, or from faith?”
Because what you believe shapes what you’ll see… and how far you’ll go.
🎧 Listen to this week’s episode of God’s Calling: “Identifying Limiting Beliefs — The Boxcar That Was Never Cold.”
You’ll walk away with practical ways to spot limiting thoughts, replace lies with truth, and finally say —
“Here I am, Lord. Use me. Send me.”
