Faith Without Action Is Dead When Stepping into God’s Calling

ep 4

We love to talk about having faith — believing that God can move mountains, open doors, and change situations. But sometimes, we forget one crucial truth: faith isn’t meant to sit still.

In this week’s episode of God’s Calling, Shauna unpacks what it really means to put your faith in motion — to stop waiting for perfect conditions and start walking toward what God has already promised.

Faith That Doesn’t Move, Doesn’t Grow

James 2:17 says, “Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”

That’s strong language — dead.
It means faith without movement doesn’t produce life. It doesn’t grow. It doesn’t bear fruit.

Shauna points to one of the best examples of active faith: the story of Jericho in the Book of Joshua.

God promised the Israelites the city, but the walls didn’t fall just because they believed.
They had to walk.

For six days, they circled the city in silence.
And on the seventh, they marched seven times and shouted — trusting God completely, even when it looked foolish to everyone else.

It wasn’t their logic or strategy that brought the walls down.
It was their obedience.
Their movement activated their faith, and their faith released God’s power.

That’s the kind of faith Shauna says God is calling us to today — the kind that doesn’t just believe He can, but steps forward trusting that He will.

When Faith Meets Real Life

Shauna shares how this truth played out in her own life while planning the Echoes of Courage Conferences.

The expenses alone were overwhelming — venue rental, catering, swag bags, travel — it felt impossible.
But instead of freezing in fear, she chose to move in faith.

She reached out to her speaker mentor, asking if she knew anyone who might want to join the conference.

“To be honest,” Shauna admits, “I didn’t even want to send that email. I prayed before I hit send.”

But she did it anyway — a small act of obedience rooted in faith.

That one email led to a conversation that changed everything.
Her mentor and another friend helped her completely rework the plan so speakers wouldn’t have to pay to participate.

And then, right after sending that email, one of the speakers messaged her with incredible news:
she had secured a beautiful barn venue in Haleyville, Alabama for their May conference.

(And if you’re reading this before December 1st — tickets for the March, April, and May events go on sale that day!)

What started as a single step of faith — a simple email — became a miracle in motion.

God Honors Movement

That small act catapulted into something far bigger than Shauna ever imagined.
What once seemed impossible is now reality — and every detail has God’s fingerprints all over it.

Because here’s the truth: God honors movement.

Faith opens the door, but action walks through it.

Shauna could have chosen not to send that email.
She could have stayed stuck, afraid of being ignored or rejected.
But she moved — and God met her in motion.

That’s the partnership of faith and obedience.
You do your part — and God does what only He can do.

Sometimes it looks risky.
Sometimes it looks a little crazy.
And sometimes it doesn’t go the way you expected — but even then, God uses it to guide you exactly where you’re meant to be.

The Power of a Faith That Moves

Just like the Israelites walked before the walls fell, sometimes God asks you to move before the miracle happens.
Your obedience may be the key that unlocks His promise.

Maybe right now, you’re waiting on God for something big — a dream, a breakthrough, an opportunity, a calling.
You’ve prayed, “God, I trust You,” but haven’t actually taken a step.

What if the thing you’re waiting for… is waiting on you to move?

Faith that stays still is faith that fades.
But faith that moves — even when you don’t see how it will work — that’s the faith that grows, opens doors, and moves mountains.

A Final Word

Take a moment today to ask yourself:

👉 What step of obedience is God asking me to take — even if it feels uncomfortable, uncertain, or incomplete?

You don’t have to have it all figured out to take the first step.
You just have to move.

Because when faith and obedience work together, that’s when the walls fall.
That’s when doors open.
That’s when God’s plan begins to unfold right before your eyes.

Wherever you are today, take that next step — and say with confidence:

“Here I am, Lord. Use me. Send me.”
